Columbia was for the Owner Ops thing is the Fleets like it as much as O/O's. Something about Chrome and the feelings it causes in drivers that could be why TMC has such an easy time HOOKING THEM IN. Must be that they give them a SHINY HINEY SKATEBOARD AND A PETE 379 TO BOOT IF THEY SURVIVE.

Not to derail my own thread, but TMC uses Columbias? I've never seen that. I also noticed that they no longer seem to be using Pete 387's either. Wonder why that is...

Just talked to a couple of guys at two different Freightliners about this and was surprised to find out that the Century is considered the higher-end model over the Columbia. Who knew?
They both said chassis, suspension, sleeper, and cab were pretty much the same except for the dash.
-
Yes the Century was the more expensive model, I had 2 with Cat engines. The Century model had a different hood that allowed more air flow to go thru and come out on the sides where the hidden hood latches were. On a hot day when you had the window down, at slow speeds all you could feel was the engine heat.

I think we're getting ready to buy a Century ourselves... keeping up with the Gears...

I guess I am at the bottom. Mine is a Columbia, Great to sleep in when it is shut off. LOL

Really enjoy my 2001 Century, but just had a code 45, Low turbo air,,,, Whats going on,,,, Any of you people had this fault??
-
The Century's are a 100% better truck. Columbias are the stripped down version of a Century with alot less frills. Having driven both, stick with the Century.
